A SQUARE banking customer has vowed she's done with the financial service company after it deposited her money into a closed account.

Though the bank admitted to its error, Anne Renee Timmons-Harris vented on Facebook, saying it would be days before she saw her money.

"Breathing fire right now," wrote Timmons-Harris in an April 23 Facebook post.

The Louisiana native said the financial service company tried to deposit money into a closed bank account.

The bank returned the funds on Monday due to the error, however, Square told Timmons-Harris that the money wouldn't be added to her account for three to five business days.

"I'm dropping Square as a credit card payment service," she wrote in the post.

"I am also going to stop using their Square site because it doesn't get crawled by search engines for my backup website."

In a follow-up comment, Timmons-Harris explained she was on the phone with Square for about two hours trying to get the bank to return the money.

"I'm done with them," she wrote.

BANK BUST

Customers from other banks shared their woes as well, including one person who slammed Chase after claiming their account was suddenly closed while traveling abroad.

The person said the incident left them in a rocky situation as they couldn't access their money.

"Chase Bank have closed my account again, while I'm out of the country," the person wrote in a Facebook post earlier this month.

'I was begging them to shut it down,' cries Chase customer forced to watch $8k sucked from account - bank found no fraud

The person didn't specify where they were traveling to, however, they claimed they contacted Chase to get assistance after their account was shut down.

"I informed them that I was traveling and they said 'no problem,' but I'm cashless," they claimed.

"Next time I will bring my Bank of America card, no issues there."

The customer claimed that the staff on the phone "were rude" and their international phone numbers didn't work.

Sometimes a bank will close an account if it suspects there is something suspicious.

Customers are often urged to reach out to their bank to let them know of any travel plans, especially if it's out of the country.

What to do when your bank account is closed

Having your bank account close with no warning can be a stressful experience. If you're unsure why the closure happened or you're worried about your money, here's what you can do to remedy ther situation as reported by Experian:

  • Contact your bank immediately to find out what you need to do to get your money back.
  • Stop direct deposits and automatic withdrawals. If you receive direct deposit from your job, be sure to redirect the funds to another account or get the money through a mailed check until the issue is resolved.
  • File a complaint to the federal Office of the Comptroller's Customer Assitance Group.
  • Look into opening a different type of account either at the same bank or another one.

Another Chase customer said they were left without access to their money for days after their account was closed.

MaKalie Reed wrote on social media that her account was suddenly closed after her tax return was deposited.

"Chase just up and closed my bank account. Tax money still in there,"  Reed wrote in a Facebook post.

"I'm sick to my stomach."

She went to the bank in person but was told there was nothing they could do to open the account.

"They said I gotta wait for them to mail a check," Reed said, however, another person replied that it could take over a month.
